1. We spoke about Plain English writing in class. Please answer the following in detail: 

a. How would you explain to someone what “Plain English writing” is? (4 Marks)

 If I had to explain to someone what plain language is I would say that it is clear, concise and straightforward it is written in a way that everyone can easily understand it avoids the use of complex words and long sentences instead it uses a common word that everyone uses on the “daily the language is logically structured to make the message as easy to understand and follow”. The main objective is to communicate the idea in a way that the listener is able to access regardless of their background or their current knowledge on the topic.

 b. What makes plain English writing different? (4 Marks)

What makes plain  English different is that it is very simple. It uses words that are part of our everyday language instead of using long technical terms because you wanna sound smart. By using simple words it allows the audience to understand even if the listener does not quite understand the topic of discussion. Plain English writing tends to use shorter sentences, it avoids the long structure, which will allow the listener/readers to follow the content more easily without getting lost or confused. What also makes English writing different is that it is designed to make the audience take action by using active verbs and positive messaging. Lastly, the design of the reading is more commonly used in lists, tables, info design, and clear fonts. We can do this by  using the F pattern

c. What is plain language writing for the web, and in detail, and in your own words, why is it important? (4 Marks)

“Plain language writing for the web means creating content that is clear, concise and easy to read by my target audience. It is specifically designed for the internet; it avoids the use of complex words and long sentences instead it uses straightforward language that allows readers to quickly find and understand the information that they need.” The reason for this is that it is a way of communicating in a way that ensures users can quickly and easily understand information when they discover it online. Plain language is partially very important because web users have a very short attention span and are seeking a solution for their needs as quickly as possible. Plain language ensures that readers can find key details without frustration.
