Assignmetn#2 Part A question 1

1. Now that you know what constitutes a “good” headline, you are to create specific and detailed prompts. Please include the specific prompts you utilized to generate the three (3) headlines. These prompts must be based on class content. We spoke about this in detail in class. Explain in detail the following:

 a. List the initial prompt you started with and a detailed explanation of why you created this based on course content. (4 Marks)

The initial prompt that I started with was

“ for an article about the SCC Advertising Program targeted to local graduating high school students. give me an 8-word headline that is relevant to my target market and invoke urgency it should be something that they would care about or be interested in”

The reason why I created this prompt was to get a feel for what ChatGPT can do. Another reason based on class content is that in the PowerPoint 72 Ways to Write a Headline that Will Reach Your Readers slide 34 says that hinting at something interesting by leaving out enough detail to get the reader to be more interested in your headline by dropping a hint about something that they will be interested in it will get them to want to read more. In that same PowerPoint slide 34, the title invokes Urgency. I need you to use words that make them want to take action, words that inspire urgency. In class, we talked about how the headline must be relevant to the target audience and connect to them. I can connect to them by using words that resonate with them ( slide 66). Another thing that we talked about in class that I think was very important was understanding the ideal headline length  (slide 51) in that slide it says that a study was conducted and this study revealed that many readers tend to absorb only the first three words and the last three word of the headline this mean by keeping the headline to a minimum of 6 words will help readers easily process it and even reduce the interaction cost involved in grasping its meaning. This shows that if I was aiming to have a headline that was directly 6 words, each word had to be specific, relevant and unique, it had to be simple to get the point across easily without having the readers confused.

 b. List the final two (2) prompts you created to generate the other (2) headlines. Explain how you modified each, including what you did and why. This must be based on class content only. (8 Marks)

2nd prompt:  “Knowing who my target audience please give me a headline that is a unique number a number that is rarely used this headline connects with my target audience so as to resonate with them don’t make it to long or too short 6-7 words will do well in this headline I want it to solve a problem by giving a solution maybe have how it is made in Canada or something that relates to Canada”

Before giving chat GBT my new modified prompt I want to make sure they knew who my target audience was for this headline I wanted to be more specific because I thought that the first one that I made was not just me telling it to make a headline that sounds like a robot I wasn’t clear enough of how I wanted it sound the tone and voice. For this prompt connect to front the class content from the same PowerPoint 72 ways to write a headline that will reach your readers in class we talked about how having a number in a headline can make one of the best headlines it gives the reader a clear idea of what to expect, the number immediately tells the readers that they will get a protocol list of action tips for something that are interested in. since we know that reader don’t read headlines but mostly scan them by having a number it stands out visually, numbers make the headline easier to read and digest. Numbers also set a promise of value, this will attract the attention of readers far better than any generic headline, Curiosity? They say curiosity kills the cat and humans are known to be very curious creatures having a number triggers curiosity it makes readers wonder which makes them want to take action and find out (slide 32) in the prompt I ask chat GBT to make the headline solve a problem by giving a solution ( slide 35)  by creating a headline like this it creates immediate value it suggest that the healing have actional advice this will make readers feel like there are getting something of value from reading my article something that can the problem that they’re are having it also show that the headline also kind of connect with them it shows that you know who your target audience is and what type of problem they are dealing with having a headline that directly addresses a problem and offer a solution that speaks directly to the readers needs.

3rd prompt: “Give me a headline that starts with GIVE me ————– (a number )and ill————————— make it a promise I want these words to be motivating and empowering”

For this prompt, I kind of give it a template to follow I got this template from the class PowerPoint on how to create winning headlines in 9 simple steps slide 18 the reason why I chose this prompt is that I wanted it to be simple and direct for all the other prompt I was asking chat GBT a lot to put into on headline and I felt that for the last one, I should take a different approach  I dint ask for too much just the tone of voice I wanted it to sound like and I wanted it to be a promise that I know that I can Fulfill for my potential readers.  Starting the headline with GIVE ME helps create a personal connection with the readers it makes them feel like I am directly talking to them as we discussed in class this is very important consumer sees a lot of ads and headlines every day so just having one that is personalized to them can help build trust and engagement consumer will feel understood and will more likely to pay attention and take action. In the prompt, I still kept with the number because, as I said before, numbers help to create a sense of urgency, it also solves a problem that many people may be going through, like an overwhelmed environment and a feeling of stress.
